Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

You Care Reminders ("we", "us") is operated from the United Kingdom and is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We are the data controller for personal information you provide and process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Account data — name, email, password hash, sign-in metadata.
  • Care data — details you add about the loved ones in your care: name, contact details, timezone, reminder schedules, and notes.
  • Reminder activity — delivery logs and confirmation responses so caregivers can see what happened.
  • Billing data — handled by Stripe; we store only your subscription status and plan, never your card details.
  • Contact form messages — when you write to us via the Contact page, we keep your message so we can respond.
  • Technical data — basic device, browser and IP information to keep the service secure.

What we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect health, fitness, step, sleep, fall, or location data.
  • We do not integrate with Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit, Oura, or any other health device or app.
  • We do not store medication, dosage or clinical information — these categories have been removed from the product.
  • We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

How we use it

  • To send the reminders and confirmations you have asked us to send.
  • To run your account, take payment, and provide customer support.
  • To improve the service, prevent abuse, and keep it secure.
  • To send essential service emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset, billing receipts). We do not send marketing emails without consent.

Lawful bases (UK GDPR)

  • Contract — to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure and to improve it.
  • Consent — for any optional communications you opt into.
  • Legal obligation — to keep certain billing and tax records.

Who we share it with (subprocessors)

We only share personal data with the processors needed to run the service:

  • Cloud hosting & database — runs the application and stores your data, encrypted at rest.
  • Email delivery provider — sends reminder, account and contact-form emails on our behalf.
  • Twilio — sends SMS reminders on our behalf (where you've enabled SMS).
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments.

We do not sell your data and we do not share data with advertisers.

International transfers

Some of our subprocessors are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision by the UK government.

How long we keep it

Account, care and reminder data are kept for as long as your account is active. Contact form messages are kept for up to 24 months so we can refer back to previous conversations. You can export or delete your data at any time from your data dashboard. Deleted data is removed from our live systems within 30 days, with reasonable backup retention thereafter.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, export and restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise any of these rights email hello@youcarereminders.co.uk or use the tools on your data dashboard. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Children

The service is intended for adults aged 18 and over who are caring for or supporting another adult. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
