Does the person I care for need a smartphone or app?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the channel you choose. Email and text reminders work on any phone or computer that can open an email or read a text — nothing to install, no account for them to manage. Push notifications, available on the Essentials and Family plans, do need a smartphone and a one-time setup to add the app to their home screen.

How long does it take to set up?

Accepted Answer

Most caregivers are set up in under five minutes. You'll add the person you care for, choose how they prefer to be contacted, and set the first one or two reminders. You can refine everything from there at your own pace.

What kinds of reminders can I send?

Accepted Answer

Gentle wellness nudges — drinking water, a meal or snack, a planned phone call with a grandchild, or simply a kind midday hello. You decide the wording, the days, and the times.

Can I use it for medication reminders?

Accepted Answer

No. You Care Reminders is explicitly not intended for medication. Automated reminders can be delayed, duplicated, or missed because of network, carrier, or provider issues. If you choose to use the service for medication despite this warning, you do so entirely at your own risk and we accept no liability. Please use a pharmacy-supplied medication aid or a dedicated medical device instead.

How do I know they received it?

Each reminder includes a single, friendly button — "I've got it." When they tap it, you'll see a quiet confirmation on your dashboard. No reply is needed beyond that one tap.

What happens if they don't respond?

Nothing alarming. The dashboard simply shows the reminder as awaiting a response. You decide what to do next — many caregivers use it as a gentle prompt to call and check in.

What is the easiest reminder app for an 80-year-old?

The easiest one is the one they never have to open. With You Care Reminders you do all the setting up, and the reminder arrives as an ordinary text message or email with a single button on it. There's no app to learn, no password, and no settings for them to get lost in.

Set one short prompt at a time that suits her — mid-morning tends to work well. When she taps to say she's seen it, the confirmation appears on your dashboard with the time it landed. An alarm is a noise, not a message. Once the beeping stops there's nothing left to explain what it was for, and alarms fire whether or not the day suits, so they get dismissed out of habit. A short written message that stays on screen and says something specific gets a very different response.

Is this better than a dementia clock?

It's different rather than better. A dementia clock answers 'what day is it?' at a glance, with nothing to set up. What it can't do is prompt something specific at a specific moment, handle things that only happen on certain days, or tell you it was seen. Plenty of families use both.

Can my brothers and sisters see the same reminders?

Yes, on the Family plan. You can invite other family members so everyone sees the same confirmations in one place, instead of texting each other to ask how the day went.

Do you track steps, sleep, falls or health signals?

No, and we don't plan to. We don't connect to watches, health apps or fitness trackers, and we don't track location or movement. You Care Reminders sends reminders and records whether they were confirmed — nothing more.

Is my family's information kept private?

Yes. Information is stored securely in the United Kingdom and only ever visible to you, the caregiver. We don't sell data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't use it to train anything outside of your own account.

Can I export or delete everything?

At any time. From your Privacy page you can download a full copy of your records as a single file, or delete your account entirely. When you delete, your data is removed — not archived.

No. You Care Reminders offers wellness reminders and gentle check-ins. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, emergency response, or formal care. If you need urgent help, please contact your GP or local emergency services.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. You can create an account and explore the service without entering payment details. You only choose a plan when you're ready.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Of course. There are no long contracts and no cancellation fees. You can pause or stop your subscription from your account settings, and access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
