Honest answer

# Care, or being checked up on?

The worry is legitimate. Nobody wants to turn their parent's home into something that reports on them.

Short answer

It becomes intrusive when it is imposed, hidden, or used to catch someone out. It feels like care when the person chose the wording, knows exactly what family can see, and can turn it off.

## The three things that decide how it feels

- Consent: did they agree, or did it arrive?
- Transparency: do they know exactly what you see?
- Control: can they change or stop it themselves?

## Set it up together

Sit down and choose the wording with them. "Morning dad — cup of tea and the crossword?" is theirs. "Hydration check" is a system talking. The words matter more than any setting.

## Be honest about who it is for

Much of the value is your peace of mind, and saying so is disarming rather than weak. "I worry, and this means I stop ringing you at odd hours" is a fair trade most people accept readily.

## What we deliberately do not do

There is no camera, no location tracking, and no microphone in the home. A confirmation tells you a message was acknowledged and nothing else. That limitation is intentional.

## Being straight with you

You Care Reminders is a non-medical wellness tool, not a monitoring service and not an alarm. Delivery is best effort rather than guaranteed, and it must not be used for medication reminders. If you are worried about someone's health, speak to their GP; in an emergency, call 999.

## Questions carers ask

### What if they say no?

### Can they stop it themselves?

### Does it track location?

## Set the first reminder tonight

It takes about five minutes, costs nothing to start, and the person you care for has nothing to install.
